Pilates for Dancers

Specifically designed to enhance performance, aid in injury prevention, and support the rehabilitation process.

In addition to pilates movements we will go over correct technique and recruitment during a dance class and identify specific strengthening exercises and flexibility movements that will enhance your abilities as a dancer.

For those who experience nervousness in dance performance, we can introduce different visualization, breathing and meditation techniques.

This class will begin with a brief intake going over your goals and intentions followed by an assessment and a plan to get you there.

The studio space has a variety of equipment including a pilates reformer, pilates tower, mat space, ballet barre, turn out boards, dance floor and a variety of complimenting accessories.

Performers practicing classical ballet are welcome to bring pointe shoes.

Frequently asked questions

  • We want you to feel comfortable and find it easiest to see your alignment in fitted clothing, grippy socks or bare feet.
    Please note that in some positions you will find it more comfortable wearing long shorts or shorts with a liner.

  • A water bottle is recommended

  • We feel honoured that you would choose us to introduce you to the pilates method. You do not need any prior pilates or exercise experience. We will take you through the movements at a pace that works for you.

  • We will likely offer a short program that can be done in-between session. This is optional. We know most of us are busy and will work with your schedule.
